Big Event Tonight for Maloney Charity Efforts

A special ceremony at 5 p.m. caps one of several pushes to raise money for an important cause.

1. Today's Top Thing: Organizers of last month's highly-attended Chief Michael Maloney St. Patrick's Day benefit will present a to representatives of Maloney's family and the Greenland Police Department during a ceremony at 5 p.m. at Local’s Restaurant and Pub.

2. State Official Participating in Important Discussion Tonight: New Hampshire Department of Transportation Commissioner Christopher Clement will be on hand at the 7 p.m. Hampton Beach Area Commission meeting at Hampton Town Hall to discuss local, regional and state transportation strategies.

3. What Else Is Happening Today? Interviews with the finalists for the new North Hampton Public Library's construction were scheduled to begin today and continue through April 30 in the hopes of choosing a design and notifying the  firm responsible for that work by May 1.

4. This Day in History: On this day in 1964, the Toronto Maple Leafs defeated the Detroit Red Wings, 4-0, and won the National Hockey League’s Stanley Cup championship, four games to three.

The victory marked the Maple Leafs’ third consecutive Stanley Cup victory, and last championship to date.
