Selectmen will decide whether to bag or deploy big changes to an oft-debated service in town.

Also, North Hampton selectmen will demand money from the Local Government Center during a meeting at 7 tonight at North Hampton Town Hall, Aquarion Water Company is hosting an open house, and a decision will likely be made today about the vacant state retail space in the Hampton Beach Seashell Complex.

4. This Day in History: On this day in 1994, in a ceremony presided over by England's Queen Elizabeth II and French President Francois Mitterand, a rail tunnel under the English Channel officially opened, connecting Britain and the European mainland for the first time since the Ice Age.

The channel tunnel, or "Chunnel," connects Folkstone, England, with Sangatte, France, 31 miles away. The Chunnel cut travel time between England and France to a swift 35 minutes and eventually between London and Paris to two-and-a-half hours.
