Police are still searching for a man who led numerous law enforcement agencies from New Hampshire and Massachusetts on a multistate, high-speed chase Sunday afternoon after the man was allegedly found breaking into cars parked at the Seabrook Chili's restaurant on Lafayette Road (Route 1), according to the Newburyport News.
The paper has reported the chase reached speeds of "nearly 100 mph" when the suspect fled in a white Chevrolet Blazer on Interstate 95 south. New Hampshire State Police, Seabrook police, Massachusetts state troopers in Newbury and Andover, and Merrimac and Amesbury police were all involved in the pursuit, which ended after the suspect pulled into a gas station in Lowell and fled on foot around 5:30 p.m. Sunday, according to the Newburyport News.
A Massachusetts State Police K-9 unit and troopers unsuccessfully searched the area for about 90 minutes, according to the Newburyport News. The incident is reportedly still under investigation by Seabrook, Lowell and state police.
