Five Things to Do This Weekend

A highly-emotional event, a special family festival, two big initiatives, a business retirement party and more are on tap. What are you doing this weekend?

Looking for something fun to do on the Seacoast this weekend? Here are some ideas (and be sure to tell us about the things you did and show us the pictures you took by e-mailing Editor Kyle Stucker at Kyle.Stucker@Patch.com):

1. Walk a Bit for a Good Cause: Thousands of Seacoast residents and police officers are expected to participate in the second annual "Chief Maloney Unity Run and Walk" on Sunday at 9 a.m. as a way to honor all first responders.

Bib No. 260 — a commemorative bib because Maloney's badge number was 260 — has already been auctioned off for $502.50, and all funds raised by the run and auction will be donated to the Chief Michael Maloney Memorial Fund.

This year's race will also honor first responders in the wake of the Boston Marathon bombings, and the public is invited to participate in the 5.6-mile run or walk from the Portsmouth Police Department to the Greenland Police Department.

2. Celebrate Civil War Saturday: Hampton's Tuck Museum is hosting a variety of activities on Saturday as a part of "Civil War Saturday," a free family-focused event commemorating the Civil War.

Living history presenters, demonstrations, a quilt raffle, exhibits and children's events are part of the celebration — more information for which is available here. A book signing and a Civil War supper are also part of the festivities.

3. Lend a Hand to Beautify Seacoast Beaches: Saturday is the 20th annual New Hampshire Coastal Lobster Trap Cleanup Day, and local residents and commercial fishermen will look for help collecting lobster traps and other fishing gear that winter storms have washed up on New Hampshire beaches and shorelines.

More information about the cleanup and how you can help can be found here.

4. Say Farewell to a Well-Known Figure: There's a special reception from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Hampton Falls Village Market to honor George Privé, who is retiring this week as owner of the popular store.

Privé recently announced his retirement after on the Hampton Falls Village Market Facebook page.

5. Take Part in Two Important Police Events: Both Hampton and North Hampton police departments will participate in the National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day on Saturday, while Saturday is also a testing day for Hampton's part-time officer program.

Also, the Miss New Hampshire competition continues this weekend.

What else is going on? You tell us! There are plenty of other events, but we want to know what you're going to do. Tell us in the comments!
