An area man who allegedly caused a rollover crash on Route 101 because he was speeding to catch cars that passed him has been arrested on a warrant.
Jason M. Wooles, 31, of Hampton Falls, was charged with reckless operation at 3:52 p.m. on Jan. 8.
No one was injured during the rollover, which occurred at about 8:15 p.m. on Dec. 22.
Hampton Police Lt. Dan Gidley previously told Patch that Wooles was allegedly at a stop at the Landing Road lights while traveling east on Route 101 around that time. Two vehicles behind Wooles allegedly passed his stationary vehicle after Wooles failed to resume driving after the light turned green.
Gidley said a witness reported that Wooles may not have seen the light turn from red to green because he may have been "preoccupied" with something.
A short time later, the same witness reportedly saw Wooles and his vehicle "come flying up from behind them" on Route 101, according to Gidley. Wooles allegedly attempted to pass the two vehicles that had been behind him at the light by driving in the westbound lane, although Gidley said Wooles allegedly lost control of his vehicle while doing so.
Wooles' vehicle rolled over at least once and came to a rest on its roof off the roadway at least 200 to 500 feet east of the Landing Road lights, according to Gidley.
Wooles allegedly refused medical treatment at the scene for minor facial injuries.
Gidley said Wooles' vehicle was "probably totaled" during the crash. No one else was injured, and no other property was damaged.
Wooles wasn't charged or issued any citations at the scene.
