Educational Marine Group May Soon Get Green Light for Beach Facility
A decision timeline has been set, and the ideas will be evaluated on three main points.

Good morning, Hampton and North Hampton. Here are five things you need to know for Tuesday, April 23:
1. Today's Top Thing: Explore the Ocean World and Blue Ocean Society for Marine Conservation are among the groups interested in bringing a marine educational center to Hampton Beach's Seashell Complex, and the state has set April 29 as the deadline for other proposals for the complex's vacant 430-square-foot retail space, according to Boston.com.

The state won't reopen its New Hampshire-made gift shop this summer, and several ideas for the space have already been suggested as the state openly solicits ideas.
The Boston Globe has reported that any and all proposals must be presented in person on May 2, and that a decision will be made on May 6 in order for the contract to be approved by the governor’s Executive Council on June 5. The paper has also reported that the proposals will be evaluated on the strength of the operating plans, the expected revenue, and the vendors’ past experiences.

Locals have already indicated strong support for something fresh and educational at Hampton Beach, as voters within the Hampton Beach Village District approved an increase to the annual district budget last month to support such an entity.

2. What Else Is Happening Today? Don't miss a really great special event tonight at Lane Memorial Library.
The library, in partnership with ACT ONE and the Hampton Rotary Club, is hosting "MAKE SURE IT'S ME/nh," a community discussion about traumatic brain injuries experienced by American military service members, at 6:30 p.m. The discussion will feature a Purple Heart recipient, the associate director of ACT ONE and a certified brain injury specialist. More information here.
Also, Lane Memorial Library is hosting a free showing of the PG movie "Parental Guidance" at 2 p.m. as part of April Vacation week, the North Hampton Zoning Board will meet at 6:30 p.m. at North Hampton Town Hall, the Hampton Conservation Commission will meet at 7 p.m. at Hampton Town Hall.
3. This Day in History: According to tradition, the great English dramatist and poet William Shakespeare was born in Stratford-on-Avon on this day in 1564.
It's impossible to be certain the exact day on which he was born, but church records show that he was baptized on April 26, and three days was a customary amount of time to wait before baptizing a newborn.
Shakespeare's date of death is conclusively known, however: it was April 23, 1616. He was 52 years old and had retired to Stratford three years before.
4. Today's Forecast:
