Fishermen Catch 9-Foot Shark 1.5 Miles Off Hampton Beach

A shark was caught — and released — off Hampton Beach during the same week as a beach evacuation due a shark swimming in shallow water.

WMUR has reported that fishermen Mark Schultz and Adam Knight caught a 9-foot-long- shark "about 1.5 miles off the coast of Hampton Beach" this week — a catch that comes during the same week as a Wallis Sands beach evacuation due to a shark sighting.

It's unclear whether the shark caught and released by Schultz and Knight is the same shark seen swimming not far off the Rye beach, and WMUR's report doesn't state what day the fishermen caught the shark.
