Florida Motorcyclist Accused Of Drunken Riding, Clocked At 171 Miles Per Hour: NHSP

HAMPTON, NH — A man from Florida faces multiple charges after being accused of drunken driving on a motorcycle through Seacoast communities on Sunday.

Around 5:15 p.m., two troopers, conducting routine traffic enforcement, saw a motorcycle driving east on Route 101 in Exeter at a high rate of speed. One of the troopers clocked the motorcyclist riding at 120 mph and accelerating up to 160 mph, Amber Lagace, a public information officer for the New Hampshire State Police, said.

The first trooper alerted the second trooper, “who was positioned well ahead of the motorcycle, and they coordinated a plan to stop the reckless operator,” she said. When the motorcyclist came into view, the second trooper recorded a speed of 171 mph by the motorcyclist, Lagace said.

Christopher Unghire, 36, of Port St. Lucie, FL, was stopped and arrested on aggravated driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, and reckless conduct. He was released on personal recognizance bail. Unghire is due in Hampton District Court on June 1.
