Pratt was already in custody at the Rockingham County House of Corrections on an unrelated charge when Hampton police arrested him on May 1 for the Hampton bank robberies, according to Lt. Dan Gidley.

Detectives in the Hampton Police Department "worked all leads" in the cases, and Pratt's arrest came as a result of this work, a tip, witness statements and evidence recovered from the crime scenes, according to Gidley.

In the April 3 robbery, Pratt — dressed in a Navy blue hooded jacket and a baseball cap — allegedly didn't show a weapon and handed a teller a note demanding money before fleeing the bank.

The March 22 and April 20 robberies were committed in the same manner, although authorities recovered after the latter incident several items of clothing that Pratt allegedly left behind after fleeing into the nearby municipal parking lot.
