Hampton Beach Bar Sues Nashua Bar for Using Its Name

A Hampton Beach business named Bernie's has begun a court battle against a business named Bernie's in Nashua.

The owner of Bernie's Beach Bar has filed a lawsuit in Rockingham Superior Court in the hopes that it will stop a former colleague from using his business' name and logo style to promote a similar establishment in the Gate City, according to the Union Leader.

The Union Leader has reported that Al Fleury, who also owns Wally's Pub at Hampton Beach, has filed for an injunction against Bernie Goulet and Goulet's Nashua concert venue and restaurant, Bernie's.

Goulet used to work as a music promoter at Wally's Pub until two years ago, and the Union Leader has reported that Fleury filed the suit after Goulet allegedly didn't respond to cease and desist letters in August and September.

Bernie's Beach Bar opened in May after Fleury tore down La Bec Rouge, which was heavily damaged by a burst pipe, and constructed a new restaurant, bar and music venue that specializes in outdoor entertainment.

Fleury couldn't immediately be reached for comment Wednesday.
