Hampton Fisherman Suing Pease, State After Fall

The man is still recovering from numerous skull and limb fractures, facial paralysis and other disabilities stemming from the 2010 fall.

David Goethel, a commericial fisherman from Hampton, is reportedly suing the Pease Development Authority and the New Hampshire Division of Ports and Harbors over a negligently installed and maintained hydraulic hoist system that gave way and caused Goethel to fall 25 feet, according to the Union Leader.

The paper has reported that Goethel suffered multiple fractures to his skull, leg and ankle during the Sept. 15, 2010, fall, which occurred while attempting to lift boxes of fish from his boat to his truck. Goethel has allegedly racked up more than $100,000 in medical bills and still has limited arm and leg motion, as well as facial paralysis, hearing loss, vision loss, and other permanent disabilities, according to the Union Leader.
