'King Tide' Still Washing Out Hampton-Area Marshes

Many areas in and around Hampton were still feeling the effects of a king tide a day after the largest tide of the year swept through the area.

Many areas in and around Hampton were still feeling the effects of a king tide Thursday a day after the largest tide of the year swept through the area and supercharged local salt marshes.

Small, localized flooding continued to persist throughout the area early Thursday afternoon, over 24 hours after a 10-foot high tide hit the Seacoast. Most of the flooding occurred in and around the marshes and beach, and some Hampton Beach streets had light flooding.

Hampton Fire Department officials said they "haven't had any calls" to service due to flooding issues, while Hampton Police Lt. Dan Gidley said the king tide didn't cause any problems out of the ordinary.

"We haven't really had too many issues," said Gidley. "These are... small flooding issues we normally have. We deal with them about a dozen times a year."

The video above showcases some parts of the area that are still a little soggy due to the king tide. Do you have photos of the king tide? If so, please e-mail them to Kyle.Stucker@Patch.com.
