A Hampton man faces charges for allegedly assaulting a person he forcibly removed from a vehicle that was in line in the Dunkin' Donuts drive-thru lane.
Cody F. Russ, 21, was charged with disorderly conduct and criminal mischief (vandalism) at about 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7, according to Hampton Police Lt. Dan Gidley.
Gidley said Russ and the victim have a "history" and that Russ approached the individual's vehicle at the 369 Lafayette Road Dunkin' Donuts.
It was unclear Wednesday how Russ got to the property, and Gidley said he couldn't release details about the nature of the assault or the events that transpired before Saturday's incident.
Gidley did say, though, that the victim's vehicle was still in drive when Russ pulled that individual out. That caused the victim's vehicle to roll into the vehicle in front of it and cause damage to the other vehicle.
Russ was booked on the criminal mischief charge because his alleged actions caused damage to the other vehicle, according to Gidley.
No one required medical attention on the scene and no one was transported to the hospital as a result of the incident.
Russ was released on an undisclosed personal recognizance bail and is scheduled for arraignment in Hampton District Court at 8:30 a.m. on Jan. 8.
