HAMPTON, NH — A Massachusetts man died in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 95 in Hampton Tuesday. William E. Kois, 62, of Newburyport, Massachusetts, was pronounced dead after being involved in an accident around 4:23 p.m. Tuesday. According to the New Hampshire Union Leader, Kois had been a whisteblower on the conditions of the Manchester VA Medical Center in 2017.

State Police say they believe Kois suffered a medical event just before Tuesday's crash. The accident occurred on I-95 South, as Kois was driving a 2013 Porsche Cayenne. The vehicle left the roadway just before the Taylor River, at mile marker 3.8. It continued along the center grass median for about 40 yards and then struck a guardrail, State Police say.

Kois was the only occupant of the vehicle during the accident. He was transported to Portsmouth Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. State Police say they believe a medical event caused the vehicle to leave the roadway, though all aspects of the accident remain under investigation.
