Man Gets Stuck in Mud After Going to Bathroom in Local Marsh
A Colorado man had to be pulled from the mud after relieving himself in salt marsh along Ocean Boulevard.

Every once in a while, we here at Patch like to highlight a quirky Facebook comment or a social media post that goes "viral" (at least in comparison to most posts).
The latter happened Wednesday after Rye officials and emergency radio communications began discussing a low-key rescue effort prompted by a report of a man stuck in the marsh.
A Colorado couple was reportedly driving along Ocean Boulevard Wednesday afternoon when the husband, the passenger in the vehicle, asked his wife to pull over so he could relieve himself, according to Rye officials who were at an event in North Hampton involving fecal bacteria-sniffing dogs.
The man attempted to distance himself from the road in order to relieve himself, walking out into part of the marsh near Harbor Road. It was unclear how far out the man went, although one Rye official said it was "far enough that he got stuck" when he tried to make it back to the road after his pit stop.
The man was helped out of the marsh by town employees, and Rye officials said he was physically unharmed during the incident.
The story quickly spread on Hampton-North Hampton Patch's Facebook page, gathering thousands of views and many shares and comments not long after a brief account of the rescue was posted.
Here are some of the comments posted on Facebook about the story:
- Paul T. Sullivan: No damn wonder the bacteria count is rising along our precious shoreline.
- Sandra Marston: Should have left him there to fend for himself....
- Jessica Schmanski: Lol... Poor guy.
- Alice Cronin: How would he like it if visitors to his home did that? I wouldn't have helped him, other than to recommend a tow truck. Support local business.
