Elderly Hudson, Massachusetts, Driver Killed During Interstate 95 Van Crash In Seabrook

Eraldo Bezerra of Hudson, Mass., struck a bridge abutment in a Chevrolet Express Van on I-95 in Seabrook on Tuesday for an unknown reason.

SEABROOK, NH — New Hampshire State Police are investigating a crash and death of an elderly Massachusetts man on Interstate 95 in Seabrook on Tuesday.

Around 8:15 p.m., troopers from Troop A were sent to a report of a “serious motor vehicle crash” on the northbound side of the highway. The reports stated a white van had struck a bridge abutment and was smoking, according to Amber Lagace, the public information for the department. When troopers arrived, they confirmed the crash. She added the driver, the only occupant, was entrapped and unresponsive inside a 2012 Chevrolet Express Van.

“Upon extraction,” Lagace said, “the operator was confirmed to have succumbed to the injuries sustained during the crash and was declared deceased by emergency medical personnel.”

Eraldo Bezerra, 77, of Hudson, MA, was identified as the driver.

Lagace said the preliminary investigation indicated the van left the roadway on the right side, for an unknown reason, traveled around 200 feet into the grass, and struck the bridge of the Route 107 overpass. The van stopped, she said, was in the right breakdown lane. Lagace said two lanes of I-95 north were shut down for around two and half hours during the investigation and vehicle removal. Seabrook fire and rescue teams assisted troopers at the case.
