Motorcyclist Killed In North Hampton; Boston Woman Charged With DUI

NORTH HAMPTON, NH — A woman from Massachusetts was arrested on a drunken-driving charge after a fatal motorcycle crash in North Hampton on Saturday.

Around 3:45 p.m., Troop A troopers as well as North Hampton police and fire and rescue teams were sent to the intersection of Atlantic Avenue and Woodland Road in North Hampton. When they arrived, they found a vehicle, a 2015 BMW, and a 2020 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, involved in a collision.

The rider of the motorcycle, David Penney, 58, of Tewksbury, MA, was pronounced dead later at Portsmouth Regional Hospital. The driver of the BMW, Jennifer McCoy, 38, of Boston, MA, and a juvenile were also taken to the hospital. They were both found to have no injuries, Amber Lagace of the New Hampshire State Police, said. McCoy was charged with driving under the influence and is due in Rockingham County Superior Court for arraignment at a later date.

North Hampton police requested the NHSP Collision Analysis & Reconstruction Unit and troopers assumed the lead of the investigation, she said. They were assisted on the scene by the North Hampton police and fire departments. The name of the motorcyclist was not released by state police.
