Mourning a Local Legend

Today is a sad anniversary for the Seacoast, while an important conversation and a ton of local happenings highlight today's Five Things.

Good morning, Hampton and North Hampton. Here are five things you need to know for Tuesday, May 14:

 

1. Today's Top Thing: The North Hampton Select Board will discuss the Stratham-North Hampton mutual aid controversy during a special workshop Friday at 10:30 a.m. in the Mary Herbert Conference Room.

Important note: The session was originally scheduled for Wednesday at Town Hall, although it was changed late Tuesday morning.

2. Remembering One of the Seacoast's Own: Today is the one-year anniversary of the death of renowned North Hampton resident Peter Fuller.

Here's what friends and neighbors had to say about Fuller, a "remarkable" and "interesting" man who did much in his life, including — but not limited to — owning both Runnymede Farm and the only horse ever disqualified after winning the Kentucky Derby.

4. What Else Is Happening Today? A portion of the proceeds raised by Flatbread Company tonight will benefit the local chapter of Eastern Surfing Association, which puts on annual events for children and adults in the area.

Also, the Hampton School Board will meet at 7 p.m. at Hampton Town Hall, the 11th Annual Seacoast Bike/Walk to Work Week continues today through Friday, May 17, the North Hampton Conservation Commission will meet at 7 p.m. at North Hampton Town Hall, and Hampton Parks and Recreation has a trip to see a John Denver tribute show today.
