New, Leaner Bus Routes for Hampton Schools

The Hampton School District has released its newly-revised bus routes for the upcoming 2013-14 school year. 

District officials earlier this year reduced its overall number of buses to save money and increase efficiency of the runs after enrollment projections showed a drop in students. 

"We spread the students and routes out so they're more even," said Superintendent of Schools Kathleen Murphy, who said the changes aren't as simple as just cutting one bus and redistributing its students onto other buses. "We were very cautious about the number of students on each bus and the time the students spend on the bus. That was something parents wanted us to be cognizant of."
