The Seacoast Artist Association in Exeter has awarded Dover, NH photographer Dave Thompsen Best in Show for his image “Fortified” at their August theme show. They had an enormous response to this theme challenge “On the Water,” and Dave’s winner was from close to 60 entries. The show will be up until August 27. Join them for a reception on Sunday, August 8, 4-6.

"Fortified" captures an early morning scene along Ocean Boulevard at Fox Hill Point in North Hampton, New Hampshire. Majestic homes sprawl behind the relative safety of the revetment built from large boulders. The graceful, sweeping arc of the coastline and the smooth, calm sea contrasts with the rough texture of the jumble of rocks as the rising sun casts a warm summer glow, highlighting their intricate patterns.

Dave specializes in landscape and seascape scenes from across New England. He uses High Dynamic Range processing to give some of his images a highly detailed and luminous appearance. He also uses artistic software filters to impart a “painterly” look to many of his scenes.Dave posts frequent articles about photography on his Dave Thompsen Photography (dthompsen.com) website and offers matted prints for sale on his online shops on Etsy and Pixels.
