Police Identify Man Killed in Fatal Rollover

Police say they are "looking at speed as a part of the cause" of a rollover accident that killed one man and injured two others Sunday morning on Stard Road in Seabrook

Seabrook Police Officer John Mounsey said William C. Dale, 22, of Seabrook, was killed during the crash, while Keith Rivela, 22, of Seabrook, and Ian R. Bogardus, 24 of Seabrook, both sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Dale was driving the vehicle, a 2001 Jeep Cheroke. He and Rivela both had to be extricated from the vehicle, according to Mounsey.

Authorities are still waiting on measurements taken by state police at the scene, although Mounsey said his department believes speed was a factor based on initial investigative work as well as information from witnesses that said the Jeep was traveling "at about 45" miles per hour before the rollover at about 8:58 a.m. Sunday.

Seabrook police are also waiting on toxicology results to determine whether alcohol or drugs contributed to the crash. Mounsey said results typically take between six and eight weeks.

Updates on the conditions of Rivela and Bogardus weren't immediately available Monday. Mounsey said the injuries they suffered are still considered non-life-threatening.

Stard Road was closed Sunday for about 3 1/2 hours after the single-vehicle accident.
