Police Rule Beach Plum Car Vs. Bike Accident Not a Hit-and-Run

The investigation into what was a possible hit-and-run accident involving a bicyclist has been closed.

Police will not be issuing any charges in connection to a July 27 accident that sent one bicyclist to the hospital because investigators have determined the accident wasn't a hit-and-run, which is how it was reported by individuals at the scene.

North Hampton Police Sgt. Jim Russell said Thursday that the hit-and-run report has been "deemed unfounded" after conversations with independent witnesses "cleared... up" what happened before a vehicle and a bicyclist collided in front of the Beach Plum around 4 p.m. on July 27.

The bicyclist was reportedly transported to an area hospital with a broken finger, according to a witness who contacted Patch.

Russell said Thursday that additional information regarding the incident won't be released "at this time."
