Michael Ricci was sentenced to seven to 14 years in prison for hitting and killed Louis Remigio on Interstate 95 in North Hampton last year.

NORTH HAMPTON, NH — A teenager who hit and killed a police officer on Interstate 95 in North Hampton last year was sentenced to seven to 14 years in prison Monday. Michael Ricci, 19, of Burlington, Massachusetts, pleaded guilty to negligent homicide for causing the death of Louis Remigio on Oct. 8, 2017. Remigio, 55, was a police officer in Somerville, Massachusetts.

Police said Ricci was racing in his Mercedes-Benz C300 sedan with a group of friends when he veered into the opposite lane of traffic and hit Remigio, who was off-duty and driving a motorcycle. Two others suffered minor injuries when their vehicle slammed into Ricci's car. Ricci was not hurt.

"If I could go back in time and change things, I would do that," Ricci said in court during his sentencing, according to WMUR.
