Progress Continues as Brain Injury Survivor Readies for New Treatments

Myla Gott is regaining more motion and the ability to walk as she prepares for another round of HBOT.

An inspiring traumatic brain injury survivor will begin her second series of specialized treatments later this month in the hopes of continuing the significant progress made during her recovery from a severe January 2009 crash.

Myla Gott, 22, of North Hampton, will begin an 80-session, five-day-a-week round of hyperbaric oxygen therapy treatments in Massachusetts on April 22, according to her father, Bill. The treatments have already contributed to amazing-yet-slow improvements in Gott's condition, and the only Christmas gift Myla requested this year was another round of HBOT.

Myla recently has been walking — leaning on family members for support — and Bill Gott said he hopes these and other strides can continue as Myla works to overcome her diffuse axonal brain injury.

Bill Gott is reaching out again to the public for assistance in funding the expensive HBOT treatments, as well as "non-invasive procedures" such as neurofeedback, specialized vitamins to assist with reorganizing and stimulating the neurons in Myla's brain, and other treatments — none of which are covered by insurance.

The first round of HBOT was conducted in Massachusetts earlier this year, and was made possible through generous donations from locals and businesses like the 401 Tavern.
