Local Protestors Demand LGC Money's Return

A visit by an LGC official prompted a public outcry in North Hampton.

A group of protestors gathered outside North Hampton Town Hall Monday night to call on Local Government Center Executive Director George Bald to return North Hampton's share of the money the LGC wrongly collected from the town and other municipalities.

The individuals carried colorful signs with messages such as "Time is up! Now pay up!" and "Give us our money back" before Bald arrived as expected to discuss the funds.

Members of the North Hampton Select Board previously stated they planned to demand during Bald's visit that the LGC, which has been ordered by the courts to repay numerous municipalities for misusing millions of dollars given to them to cover employee health coverage. Selectmen also indicated they'd be interested in file a joint suit with other towns if Bald couldn't promise the money's return during his appearance.
