Reel in Some Fun at Annual Fishing Derby, Other Events This Weekend

Looking for something fun to do on the Seacoast this weekend? Here are some ideas (and be sure to tell us about the things you did and show us the pictures you took by e-mailing Editor Kyle Stucker at Kyle.Stucker@Patch.com):

1. Break Out the Rods: The immensely popular annual Hampton Parks and Recreation Department Fishing Derby is Saturday from 8 to 11 a.m.

2. Support Locals Trying to Make a Difference: The annual American Lung Association's Cycle the Seacoast is this weekend, and there are numerous inspirational locals taking part, including this teacher who lives in Hampton.

3. Help Out and Celebrate the Town During Two Events: Lend a hand during Lilac Sunday at Tuck Museum, as individuals will plant lilacs and a memorial maple tree in honor of Winnie Jaques, as well as assist a local student in planting a red maple tree. The Hampton Historical Society planted lilacs on the grounds of the Tuck Museum in 1938, and now, 75 years later in celebration of Hampton's 375th anniversary, they're doing it again courtesy of a grant from the Rye Driftwood Garden Club.

Also, The annual spring cleanup of Bicentennial Park and the nearby North Beach bathroom area is Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon. Organizers are asking anyone looking to help beautify a popular area of Hampton to bring their own rakes, brooms and work gloves to help tidy and garden the area for as long as they're able.

4. Cheer on Local Students: There are numerous Winnacunnet High School sporting events on Friday and Saturday, and WHS students will perform the plays they've written, designed and produced Friday night as a part of 10 Minute Plays.

Also, local students representing the New Hampshire Destination Imagination team will converge on Nashua Friday for "Spoil Your Dinner" night as they prepare to compete against teams from across the globe.

5. Ride a Hog: The Harley-Davidson demo truck will be a part of a special weekend of events at Seacoast Harley-Davidson from Friday to Sunday.
