Man Faces 15 Years in Jail, $250K Fine for Bribing IRS Auditor
Hoang O. Hoang, 45, the owner of a Seacoast nail salon, will soon be sentenced for trying to get his tax liability reduced.

A Seabrook man faces a heavy prison sentence and fine after pleading guilty to trying to bribe an Internal Revenue Service agent to reduce his Newington business' tax liability.
Hoang O. Hoang, 45, of Seabrook, pleaded guilty in United States District on Thursday to paying the IRS agent $2,295 on Jan. 12, 2012, "for the purpose of corruptly influencing the agent in the exercise of his official duties, specifically the outcome of the agent's IRS audit of Hoang's" Newington nail salon business, according to a release from U.S. Attorney John P. Kacavas.
Kacavas said Hoang, who over the course of multiple conversations — starting on Dec. 9, 2011 — offered to pay the agent $4,000, faces a maximum prison sentence of 15 years, as well as three years of supervised release and a $250,000 fine during his sentencing in federal court on July 10, 2013.
