Seashell Retail Shop Tenant Selected, DWI Cases Progress
Progress in filling a vacant storefront along Ocean Boulevard and two notable drunk driving cases lead the Five Things You Need to Know Today.

Good morning, Hampton and North Hampton. Here are five things you need to know for Tuesday, May 7:
1. Today's Top Thing: New Hampshire Division of Parks and Recreation Director Phil Bryce said a vendor has been chosen for the vacant state-owned retail space in the Hampton Beach Seashell Complex, although due to legal restrictions Bryce said he was unable to provide the vendor's name or further information.

Bryce said information at this time isn't available to the public because the drafting of the contracts for the space and other parts of the process are essentially negotiations.
He was able to confirm, though, that the process is following the previously set timeline, which called for the vendor behind the "successful" proposal to be notified Monday. Explore the Ocean World and Blue Ocean Society for Marine Conservation are among the groups previously confirmed as submitting proposals for marine educational centers in the space, which last year was a gift shop.

The deadline for the contract and other associated documents is still May 13, the proposal will be sent to the New Hampshire Attorney General's Office on May 15, and the approval date for the governor's Executive Council is estimated as June 5.
At the earliest, Bryce said the name of the chosen vendor will become public for the first time here on May 31 if the approval date isn't changed, as Bryce said the agenda for each council meeting is posted on the Friday ahead of the meeting.

3. What Else Is Happening Today? The cases against two women charged in two separate and severe driving while intoxicated incidents — one woman allegedly caused serious injury to a Hampton Beach pedestrian, and the other allegedly had two children in her car at the time of her erratic driving — will proceed in court today.

4. This Day in History: In the early morning hours of May 7, 1965, in a Clearwater, Fla., motel room, a bleary-eyed Keith Richards awoke, grabbed a tape recorder and laid down one of the greatest pop hooks of all time: The opening riff of "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction," the song that would catapult them to superstar status. He then promptly fell back to sleep.
"When I woke up in the morning, the tape had run out," Richards recalled many years later. "I put it back on, and there's this, maybe, 30 seconds of 'Satisfaction,' in a very drowsy sort of rendition. And then it suddenly—the guitar goes 'CLANG," and then there's like 45 minutes of snoring."
It wasn't much to go on, but he played it for Mick Jagger later that same day.
"He only had the first bit, and then he had the riff," Jagger recalls. "It sounded like a country sort of thing on acoustic guitar—it didn't sound like rock. But he didn't really like it, he thought it was a joke... He really didn't think it was single material, and we all said 'You're off your head.' Which he was, of course."
With verses written by Jagger—Richards had already come up with the line "I can't get no satisfaction"—the Stones took the song into the Chess studios in Chicago just three days later, on May 10, 1965, and completed it on May 12 after a flight to Los Angeles and an 18-hour recording session at RCA.
