Selectman Looks to End Beach Development's Tax Relief
Hampton and Hampton Beach are missing out on a "huge source of revenue," and one selectman has an idea to change that.

Happy Monday, Hampton and North Hampton. Here are five important things coming up this week:
1. Among the biggest happenings this week is a proposal for a controversial 100-foot structure on Hampton Beach's burned-down A Block.
The proposal, which is being submitted by the same group that stirred building height controversy earlier this summer while seeking a 65-foot structure that eventually was approved, will go before the Hampton Zoning Board of Adjustments at 7 p.m. Thursday.
2. Several big things are expected to happen at Monday night's Hampton Board of Selectmen meeting, including a motion by Selectman Phil Bean to "rescind" the tax relief granted to the Sea Spray Condominiums.
Bean said last week that a "huge source of revenue" — hundreds of thousands of dollars — was "forsaken" by a decision he never agreed with, which is why he said he'll pitch a motion to overturn it.
Selectmen are also expected to discuss in detail several potential warrant articles for the 2014 town meeting during their 7 p.m. session, including a second attempt for a public works washdown facility.
3. There's a very important session Wednesday regarding a large project that could drastically alter the future of one community.
4. Hampton will have many visitors Monday, including some representing the White House as part of a session designed to address concerns and gather information about possible impending damage to coastal infrastructure.
