VIDEO: Seabrook Station Sirens Tested

As promised, the nuclear power plant's Portsmouth sirens were activated for three to five minutes on Wednesday afternoon.

The loud, consistent blaring sound made by the Seabrook Station sirens is unmistakable when they are activated as they were Wednesday afternoon by nuclear power plant officials and emergency management officials in New Hampshire and Massachusetts.

For more than three minutes, sirens throughout the Seacoast wailed and were heard by residents, visitors and businesses throughout the area, including in Portsmouth, where the attached video was shot.

The audible demonstration of the Public Alert and Notification System (PANS) sirens that are located within the 10-mile Seabrook Station Emergency Planning Zone are periodically tested by emergency management officials to make sure they are in working order so that in the event of a real emergency the public would be properly alerted to turn on their TVs and radios for more information.
