Weekend Brings a Busy Slate of Activities, Fun

From feel-good celebrations, to free stuff, community-focused efforts and big events, there's a lot of tap.

Looking for something fun to do on the Seacoast this weekend? Here are some ideas (and be sure to tell us about the things you did and show us the pictures you took by e-mailing Editor Kyle Stucker at Kyle.Stucker@Patch.com):

1. Cheer on Locals Helping Out a Great Cause: More than a dozen Hampton-area teachers will run this Sunday in order to raise funds for the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in Newtown, Conn. Pitch in with some spirit and/or cash and help out the cause!

2. Celebrate Your Community Spirit: The Community Oven is throwing a big, event- and surprised-filled celebration in honor of its one-year anniversary on Saturday. Click here for more information.

If you're looking for a different way to come together with community members, head over to American Legion Post 35 between 5 and 7 p.m. for a special soup and salad fundraiser for the annual Wounded Warrior Hit the Beach event at North Beach.

3. Get Informed: There are three different important events this weekend that affect Seacoast residents greatly, starting at 8:30 a.m. Saturday with a public design charrette on the future of downtown Hampton.

The session, during which officials are seeking a lot of input, will be held in the Hampton Academy cafeteria. After the input session, the designs will be presented to the public at 4 p.m., so you have a lot of control in shaping those designs Saturday.

The New Hampshire Division of Parks and Recreation is also hosting a Hampton Beach community meeting from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday to provide updates on activities and improvements at the state park over the winter, review plans for the upcoming summer and answer questions.

And lastly, the 2013 Hampton Arts Network's annual membership meeting is Saturday from 4 to 6 p.m. at Hobbs House.

4. Gamble, Because It's Not a Gamble This Weekend: That's because two different groups will benefit from two different gambling establishments regardless of whether you clean out the house.

Thirty-five percent of all revenue raised Friday and Saturday at Ocean Gaming will be donated to Experience Hampton to help fund the Hampton Christmas Parade and other events, while the Friends of Winnacunnet Foundation's 10-day fundraiser at the Poker Room kicks off on Friday.

5. Catch a Free Movie: Lane Memorial Library is hosting a free showing of "Rise of the Guardians" at 1 p.m.

Speaking of libraries, this is the last weekend for Lane Memorial Library's Peep Contest, while National Library Week starts on Sunday.

What else is going on? You tell us! There are plenty of other events, but we want to know what you're going to do. Tell us in the comments!
