Drive-Thru Food Pantry Coming To Manchester Today

MANCHESTER, NH — New Hampshire's Food Bank and National Guard this afternoon will host a drive-thru mobile food pantry in the Comcast parking lot in Manchester.

In collaboration with Catholic Charities New Hampshire, the food bank and 3643rd Brigade Support Battalion will disperse truckloads of food to each individual or family who drives through.

The New Hampshire Food Bank, a program of Catholic Charities New Hampshire, will bring truckloads of food, all of which will be distributed to individuals and families in their vehicles.

To participate, residents are encouraged to visit the Comcast parking lot at 676 Island Pond Road in Manchester and enter through the entrance on East Industrial Park Drive. The mobile food bank begins at 1 p.m.

The event is funded through a one-time CARES Act dispersal to help tackle food insecurity in New Hampshire.

Catholic Charities New Hampshire estimates one in seven residents of the state are insecure, and that number is expected to grow by 71,000, or 57 percent, amid the pandemic.

In 2019, the New Hampshire Food Bank distributed around 14.2 million pounds of food through 400 non-profit agencies.
