Man Accused Of Robbery At Family Dollar Store In Manchester
Cops: Alfredo Hernandez struck employees with a shopping cart during a robbery; state police located him after he crashed a vehicle.

MANCHESTER, NH — Manchester police responded to Family Dollar on Second Street on Saturday for a report of a robbery.
When officers arrived, an employee told officers she had been sitting in the office when a man came in and asked to use the restroom. The man had a cart full of merchandise and the employee told him he could use the restroom — but could not bring merchandise in with him.
She told officers the man said, “Never mind.” He then asked if he could leave through the back door. She told him no and brought his cart up to the cash register. At that point, the man claimed to have left his wallet in the car and started to push the cart out the front entrance.

Two employees stood in front of him and the suspect hit them with the cart multiple times, according to police. When they threatened to call the police, he then left the cart behind and walked away. An employee was able to get a picture of the suspect’s car and license plate.
While viewing the surveillance video, police said, the employees were at the front of the store calling the police again as the suspect walked through the rear door and pushed a cart of merchandise out.

Manchester police issued a be on the lookout for the suspect’s vehicle and soon learned that New Hampshire State Police had the vehicle stopped. Police were advised the vehicle had been involved in a car accident on the interstate.
State police did not locate the merchandise inside the car. MPD Spokesperson Heather Hamel said, "It is believed the suspect, identified as 38-year-old Alfredo Hernandez of Manchester had dropped the items off prior to getting on the highway."
Police charged Hernandez with robbery. Hernandez was released on a $2,500 unsecured bond and his court date is to be determined at a later. Hernandez also faces unknown charges from New Hampshire State Police as well, according to Hamel.
