LONDONDERRY, NH — A man from Manchester is facing a felony drug sale death resulting charge after a multi-month investigation into an overdose that killed a woman in Londonderry in February.

Around 7:30 a.m. on Feb. 23, police were sent to Lori Lane for a report of a 28-year-old woman who was unconscious and not breathing. Firefighters pronounced her dead at just after 8 a.m. A detective arrived later and was briefed about the case. The woman shared a home with her mother and two children.

During a search of the home, a report said drug paraphernalia was found in the woman’s room, and the detective was told the woman had a history of drug usage. A medical examiner arrived and determined the woman had been dead for an hour or two, and a full autopsy was performed at Concord Hospital.

An affidavit said the autopsy later showed no signs of trauma contributing to the woman’s death while toxicology reports were pending.

At the same time, police viewed security footage at the home to build a timeline of what occurred.

Around 9:30 p.m., the woman was picked up in a newer model Ford Mustang convertible with California plates and returned about an hour later. A family member did not know the man’s name, but he was called the “Mustang guy.”

The next day, police spoke with other family members who knew the woman was smoking marijuana regularly but nothing else. She said she went out to buy marijuana and returned home around 10:30 p.m. They identified the driver of the Mustang as “Timmy,” a friend of hers who recently came to New Hampshire from California, the report said.

On March 3, police obtained a search warrant for the woman’s cellphone and viewed text messages between her and “Ayodeji,” later identified as Ayodeji Timothy Olorunfemi, 29, of Hunter Village Way in Manchester.

The detective said the text messages indicated Olorunfemi would pick the woman up, drive her to an ATM for money, “for him to get drugs,” an affidavit said.

“Specifically,” the detective wrote, “Ayodeji advises (her) that he needs her money in hand to go and get the drugs as he does not have money himself. (She) advises him that she can give him $40 for what she would like and an additional $20 for him for getting the drugs for her.”

Police searched for information on Olorunfemi and found he owned a 2013 Mustang, was known as “Timmy” on a social media site, and owned the phone number the text messages appeared on, the affidavit said.

The detective wrote the woman text messaged Olorunfemi telling him she was going to take “a bump” — a slang term for a small quantity of a drug when inhaled in powder form. She later told Olorunfemi, noting the strength of the drug could “sell itself,” he should be careful selling it to anyone else in the amount she bought, the report said.

The detective called Olorunfemi on March 10 about the case. He told Olorunfemi it was his understanding that he was the last person to see the woman a few hours before the night she died.

“Oh, was I now?,” the detective accused him of saying while answering, “Yes, you were. I’d like to speak to you about that further.”

Olorunfemi said he was at work but to call him back in an hour, the report said.

An hour later, Olorunfemi did not pick up the phone, the officer wrote, and he left a voicemail.

“He never called me back,” the detective wrote.

The detective received confirmation from Triangle Credit Union on March 25 about the woman’s cash withdrawal from a South Beech Street ATM for the drugs.

The detective also obtained surveillance video from the Beechmont Market where the ATM was located, which recorded the Mustang arriving in the parking lot and Olorunfemi walking into the store with the woman, the affidavit said.

On Olorunfemi’s Facebook site, his profile photo matched the Mustang in the surveillance video, too, the detective said.

On May 2, the medical examiner’s office found the cause of death for the woman to be acute fentanyl intoxication.

A warrant was issued for Olorunfemi’s arrest on May 17, and he was picked up at 12:29 a.m. on Wednesday and charged with a single felony count of sale of a controlled drug resulting in death.

According to superior court records, Olorunfemi’s criminal history in New Hampshire began about a decade ago.

In February 2012, he was accused of felonious sexual assault and simple assault charges against a 14-year-old victim in Manchester. A year later, he pleaded guilty to the assault charge.

Fourteen months later, he was brought up on a violation of probation charge after being arrested on controlled drug sales, acts prohibited, and criminal contempt charges in Manchester as well as a separate acts prohibited charge in Manchester in April 2013, which was later dropped. He pleaded guilty to the previous three charges in August 2013. Olorunfemi’s sentence was amended in January 2016.

In June 2015, in Manchester, he was arrested on acts prohibited and falsifying physical evidence charges, both felonies, but those charges were dropped later. Olorunfemi was arrested again on acts prohibited in October 2015 and pleaded guilty to the charge in May 2016, receiving a suspended sentence.
