Manchester Shooting Investigation Results In One Person Arrested

MANCHESTER, NH - Manchester police arrested Yoesmith Sosa Perez, 21 of Manchester after an investigation into a shooting on August 10th on Amherst Street near the corner of Ashland St.

Police responded to the area for reports of gunshots being heard in the area. Manchester fire and AMR ambulance also responded to a call in the same area for a male suffering from a gunshot wound.

When responders arrived at the scene they found a 27-year-old man suffering from two gunshot wounds on the street in front of an apartment building. The man was transported to the Elliot Hospital with what police called non-life-threatening injuries.

Witnesses reported to police that the victim and another man were arguing just before they heard gunshots.

Through their investigation, police identified Sosa Perez. It was determined that Sosa Perez and the victim knew each other and this was an isolated incident. Sosa Perez was charged with first-degree assault.

Manchester police have responded to two shootings on Amherst Street in less than a month. In July a man was shot in the face near the corner of Amherst St. and Lincoln. In that shooting, the victim was in a vehicle and reported being shot by a man he didn’t know.

Witnesses said the suspect who did the shooting fled on foot and was not located. Police have not announced any arrests in connection with this shooting.
