
The Londonderry Fire Department responded to a large building fire at 271 Nashua Road on Saturday that took about two hours to knock down.
The fire, which was reported at 3:40 a.m., was in the area of the Flea Market at Avery Road and Nashua Road.
Initial companies arrived on scene minutes later to find a large debris fire with flames 30 feet high in the air.
The debris pile was approximately 75 feet by 30 feet in size and 15 feet high.
Mutual aid was required for water supply utilizing tankers from Hudson, Litchfield and Windham.
Derry, Salem and Bedford Fire department provided station coverage.
All of the companies were released by 5:27 a.m. due to severe thunderstorms in the area. Londonderry crews returned at 11:35 a.m. to complete the extinguishment using on-duty staff.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Londonderry Fire Prevention Division.
