New Hampshire's top news of the week also included the retention of the death penalty and a high school ballplayer signing a pro contract.

WOODSTOCK, NH — Five illegal immigrants were arrested during a New Hampshire immigration checkpoint on Interstate 93, officials announced this week. All the immigrants were set for deportation. It was the third such checkpoint conducted in New Hampshire over the last year.

Also this week, lawmakers and Governor Chris Sununu approved a new law raising the state's marriage age for girls to 16 from 13.

It was a wild weather week — a tornado and severe thunderstorms knocked out power to more than 85,000 across the state.
