Today is National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day!
Here are five things you should know in Londonderry today.

1. Who wants to be a millionaire? The Powerball jackpot will hit $350 million for tonight's drawing. Though not the largest Powerball cash payout, the jackpot is inching closer to the $384 million that was given out in November 2012 in Arizona and Missouri.
2. Bet ya didn't know ... that today is National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day! That's right, the sweet American staple has its own day. The chocolate chip cookie was first invented by accident in the 1930s when Ruth Graves Wakefield added a broken up chocolate bar to her butter cookies at the Toll House Inn in Whitman, Mass. The chocolate held its form, and the cookies were a big hit, and the Boston Globe soon published the recipe. Now, according to Punchbowl.com, 25-percent of the cookies consumed in the united states have chocolate chips.
3. Dust off your clubs for a great cause. Londonderry High School is seeking individuals and businesses to offer financial support and/or join us for an enjoyable day of golf. All tournament proceeds go directly to the Dollars For Scholars scholarship fund that goes directly to graduating seniors at Londonderry High School. The golf tournament will be held Wednesday, June 26 at Passaconaway Country Club in Litchfield. In addition to the publicity and recognition that you will receive as a sponsor or player, you will have the satisfaction of knowing that you are positively impacting the future of a Londonderry scholar with your support. This year’s cost is $125 per player but if you can get your registration in and postmarked by April 30, you will receive the early bird special rate of $115 per player.
