- 1A 7-year-old from Manchester who was badly beaten last week has died. Jaevion Riley was brought to a hospital when police were called to a residence on Eastern Avenue. Riley was reportedly badly burned, unconscious, and not breathing. Murtadah Mohammad, the 25-year-old father of the child, was arrested last Thursday and charged with one count of first-degree assault, two counts of second-degree assault, two counts of falsifying physical evidence, and one count of endangering the welfare of a child. - 2. A Hillsborough County Board of Commissioners meeting is coming up! The meeting will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 8 at 9:30 a.m. at the Hillsborough County Complex. (Hillsborough County)
- 3. A 37-year-old man is facing up to 30 years in prison after beating a homeless man to death in Victory Park. A Hillsborough County Superior Court Northern District jury found Brandon Gomez guilty of manslaughter, negligent homicide, and first-degree assault in the death of Brian Berlo, 57, which occurred on Sept. 30, 2021. Sentencing will be on Apr. 21. (Manchester Ink Link)
