  1. Housing is on the schedule for the Manchester Planning Board. If you missed the Planning Board meeting on Thursday, Aug. 18, you can watch it on-demand. "The Board held a Limited Public Hearing" to discuss modifications an applicant presented for a conditional use permit to construct an ADU at 240 Pinecrest Road. The Planning Board approved applications for projects on Huntress and Chestnut streets, and a request to put a sign the roof at 409 Elm St. was denied. What's happening in Manchester next? The Planning Boards' next meeting is on Thursday, Sept 1. A complete copy of the agenda may be found here. (Manchester Ink Link)
  2. Flames engulfing the upper floors of an apartment building on Elm Street as fire crews battled the smokey blaze Monday afternoon. Heavy smoke poured from the upper floor of 34 Elm St. when the two-alarm fire was reported at about 3:15 p.m. Everyone made it out safely, according to fire officials, but several pets in the home did not survive. The fire displaced thirteen people. Firefighters were finally able to douse the flames by 6 p.m. One firefighter was treated for heat exhaustion but is expected to be OK. Thank you, Manchester firefighters. (WMUR)
  3. More people are eligible to receive monkeypox vaccines in New Hampshire. With cases on the rise, health officials said that anyone at high risk of infection, or who has been exposed to someone with a confirmed case of monkeypox, is eligible to get the JYNNEOS vaccine that health official said is "safe" and "effective" in preventing the illness. Anyone who would like to get a monkeypox vaccination should first get a referral from a health care provider. The vaccine is available through city health departments and Convenient Med Centers, including Manchester. (Seacoast Current)
