Here are the top stories in Manchester today:

  1. It's Distiller's Week! Distiller Week, hosted by the New Hampshire Liquor Commission, starts Oct. 31 and runs through Nov. 4. Spirits will be high all week as "spirit industry celebrities, experts, owners, and brand ambassadors" around the city participate in bottle signings, seminars, tastings, and much more. Organizers said that "more than 600 premium and ultra-premium spirits" will be paired with food from "dozens of New Hampshire’s restaurants and food vendors." A high point of the week will be the "'Ninth Annual Distiller’s Showcase of Premium Spirits at the DoubleTree by Hilton" in Manchester on Thursday, Nov. 3 from 6-8:30 p.m. (Subscription/The Union Leader)
  2. A shout out to Keller Williams for raising about $105,000 at its annual Keller Williams Charity Auction at the Derryfield Country Club in Manchester. Funds were raised through "live and silent auctions, raffles, door prizes, and event sponsorships." Charities and nonprofits that "improve the lives of children and families" will receive funds from the KW Charity Auction, including the Boys & Girls Club of Manchester, the Mental Health Center of Greater Manchester, Neighbor Works Southern New Hampshire," and other organizations that apply. Over $1 million has been raised through the KW Auction for charity since it started! (Manchester Ink Link)
  3. A Manchester man has been charged in an alleged road rage shooting on South Willow Street by the Mall of New Hampshire. Dzemal Cardakovic, 45, of Londonderry, died Saturday after he was allegedly shot in the incident. Witnesses reported that a car was "starting and stopping in traffic" when Cardakovic, who was driving a truck behind the SUV, approached the driver of the SUV at a stop light when he was allegedly shot. Police were reportedly looking for a blue 2015 Honda CRV that fled the scene. Tyrese Harris, 22, of Manchester was arrested Sunday and charged "with two counts of second-degree murder." (Patch)

Patch deal of the day:

Good knives make all the difference in the kitchen, but you don’t need to overpay for them. Seido Japanese knives are made with strong high-carbon stainless steel (high-carbon knives are more durable and usually more expensive) and have an acute 15-degree angle for a noticeably sharper cutting face (most Western-style knives have edge angles of 25 degrees). For a limited time, Patch readers can get a 5-piece Seido Japanese master knife set for 71 percent off. At just under $70, this chef-quality set is perfect for any home cook and would also make a great gift for the holidays.
