- The School Board Committee passed a $15/hour minimum wage for all full- and part-time employees Monday, Mayor Joyce Craig announced in a tweet. She praised the move, saying that every staff member working for our student's education in our District "deserves to make a living wage." With the wage increase, Craig noted that Manchester will be able to "attract more high-quality staff to support our kids and retain and motivate the hardworking employees already serving within our schools." Way to go, Manchester! (Twitter)
- The end of August means it's almost the end of summer — I know... too soon. But the good news is, it's almost time for the 2022 Hampton Beach Seafood Festival! The festival this year will be on Friday, Sept. 9 to Sunday, Sept. 11. Named one of the top 100 events in North America, the Seafood Festival in its 33rd year will feature 50 of the Seacoast’s top restaurants. Members of the military and veterans can receive a wristband for free admission by visiting any Service Credit Union branch in New Hampshire. - A shout out to Los Angeles Lakers player Wenyen Gabriel returned to his Manchester roots to host a free basketball camp for 9- to 17-year-old hopeful basketball players at Southern New Hampshire University. Gabriel, who was born in Southern Sudan, was raised in Manchester. “It was the place my family found refuge,” Gabriel said. He said he was grateful that Manchester welcomed his family "with open arms." On Friday, Gabriel had the opportunity to show his gratitude by paying it forward. (Manchester Ink Link)
