  1. The people living at the homeless encampment on Pine and Manchester streets could be subject to citations beginning at noon on Tuesday, Jan. 17. The City of Manchester began evicting people at the encampment yesterday. The occupants were given seven days from 9:00 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 9 before they are subject to a citation due to growing safety and health concerns for the community. (WMUR)
  2. Jason Lewis, 40, a resident of nearby Weare, was arrested last week when an additional investigation into leads from a June 2021 arrest was launched. Presently, Lewis is facing over 85 charges total from sexual assault to endangering the welfare of a child and kidnapping/extortion. The latest arrest also included 29 counts of manufacturing child sex abuse images. (WMUR)
  3. Parents of a student who received a racist death threat in nearby Weare will be on the John Stark School Board's meeting agenda for Friday evening. Sharon and Eric Houle have felt the Apr. 20, 2022, incident where two 17-year-olds wrote things like "Blacks stand no chance," "KKK," and a threatening message about their son on bathroom walls, was not handled in a timely manner and there is community dialogue which needs to occur. Board Chairman Zach Lawson honored their request and the Houles will have a chance to address the topic and the Board at the Jan. 13, meeting at 6:30 p.m. at the John Stark Regional High School.
