Here are the top three stories in Manchester today:

  1. On Saturday night, a 30-year-old man died inside the Families In Transition Shelter on Manchester Street. Police, firefighters, and EMS crews responded to a call of an overdose in the shelter. Manchester police say while the cause of death is unknown, the circumstances do not appear suspicious or criminal in nature. The man's identity has not been released as of Monday evening, pending notification of his next of kin. (Bedford Patch)
  2. Demonstrators gathered in downtown Manchester on Sunday to express frustration with the city's response to the issue of homelessness. The demonstration comes after Superior Court Judge John C. Kissinger temporarily paused the evictions of residents living in encampments on Pine and Manchester streets. The City of Manchester has argued the encampments must be removed due to public health and safety concerns. (WMUR 9)
  3. Manchester police are investigating a Sunday hit-and-run in which a pedestrian suffered serious injuries. Officers responded to a call around 6:30 a.m. at Union and Merrimack streets, where they found a 35-year-old man suffering from an apparent severe head injury. Upon further investigation, authorities determined the victim had been struck by the car while trying to cross Union Street. Anyone with information on the suspect vehicle involved in the crash is asked to contact the Manchester Police Department Traffic Unit at (603) 668-8711. (Bedford Patch)
