- After a vote recount on Monday (Nov. 14) night, Republican Larry Gagne of Hillsborough 16 House District lost his bid for re-election. Gagne was first elected in 2008, but lost out on an eighth term by a single vote. Democrats claimed the seat in Maxine Mosely, a retired school counselor and first-time candidate for a political office. Secretary of State David Scanlan (R) certified the votes at 1,799 to 1,798. (Salon)
- A retired Army sergeant, and Manchester resident, has been awarded the Meritorious Service Medal. Retired Army First Sergeant Martin Swirko was awarded the medal for his 31 years of service in the Army. The ceremony was held on Oct. 15 at Joint Base Cape Cod at Fort Devens in Massachusetts. First Sergeant Swirko also served 28 years with the Manchester Police Department and is a combat veteran of Iraq. (New Hampshire Union Leader)
- Kayla Montgomery has entered into a fully negotiated plea agreement with the state of New Hampshire. Montgomery is the stepmother of five-year-old Harmony Montgomery, and she faces two counts of perjury. If her plea is approved by a judge, she will testify in the trial of Adam Montgomery, who is charged with murdering his daughter, Harmony Montgomery. Kayla Montgomery has never been charged in connection to the disappearance or death of Harmony. (Patch)
