Here are the top stories today in Manchester:

  1. Dispose of unwanted or unused prescription drugs today, on National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, Saturday, Oct. 29. You'll find drop boxes "at dozens of police stations" from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., including the Manchester Police Department. You'll also find a drop box at the Elliot Pharmacy at River's Edge in Manchester. Items that are "not accepted" include: "Needles, sharps, syringes, liquids, inhalers, aerosols and marijuana." The Drug Enforcement Administration says it "will accept vaping devices and cartridges as long as lithium batteries are removed from those devices before disposal." (WMUR)
  2. Expect delays on I-293 in Manchester Wednesday night, Nov. 2 between Exits 6 and 5 southbound. The New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) announced that the southbound lane of the highway "will temporarily be closed" Wednesday night starting at 7 p.m. Officials said they are closing the southbound lane to repair a sewer line under the highway, and are asking people to drive carefully through the work zone. NHDOT officials said that on and off ramps won't be impacted, and the lane will reopen before 6 a.m. Thursday morning. (Manchester Ink Link)
  3. Let's keep Manchester clean! On Thursday, the city will place seven new trash cans in high-traffic areas downtown as part of a new pilot program to help keep the Queen City clean. Solid Waste & Environmental Programs Manager Chaz Newton said officials "look forward to gathering as much information as possible" to reduce litter. (Manchester Ink Link)
