Here are the top three stories in Manchester today:

  1. On Monday, Apr. 24, U.S. Senators Jeanne Shaheen and Maggie Hassan, as well as Representatives Annie Kuster and Chris Pappas, announced another round of federal grants coming to New Hampshire through the bipartisan infrastructure law. The $1.8 million in funds will specifically focus on supporting and modernizing various airports within the New Hampshire State Block Grant Program. Airports close by in Concord and Merrimack are among the few to benefit from the new grants. (Shaheen.Senate.Gov)
  2. Around the corner in Merrimack, one resident and a firefighter were injured in a house fire that left a single-family home destroyed on Sunday, Apr. 23. Officials say that the reported fire took place mostly on the second floor and was contained within a half hour following law enforcement's arrival on the scene. Both a resident of the home and a firefighter were transported to a nearby hospital as a precaution and to treat non-life-threatening injuries. (Subscription: Union Leader)
  3. Manchester native Kayiba Christelle, 22, was arrested after driving the wrong way early Sunday morning on I-93. The driver was taken into custody by New Hampshire State Police for disobeying a police officer, reckless operation, reckless conduct with a deadly weapon, and driving while intoxicated. (WMUR)

They truly appreciate the thoughtfulness of those donating, but the team doesn't have room for anything else at the moment. If you do have items like bedding, towels, and more that you're looking to donate, please take them directly to shelters or organizations that help people, or call other animal shelters to see if they have a use for them. (Manchester Animal Shelter via Facebook)
  • The Manchester Parks and Recreation Department announced that its Fun in the Sun six-week day camp will officially be taking place from Wednesday, Jul. 5 to Tuesday, Aug. 15. The camp is only open to Manchester residents between the ages of six and 12, and registration will be open from Monday, May 5 through Sunday, May 14.
