  1. A shout out to local author Gail Durant, author of the books, “Soul Signs from the Other Side,” and a coffee table book of her select photos. Proceeds from sales of both books will be donated to the New Hampshire Foster and Adoptive Parent Association. The most recent check for $1,000 brings the total Durant has donated to local charities to $7,500. Way to go! (Manchester Ink Link)
  2. Everything you need to know about the new student loan forgiveness program: College students who make less than $125,000 a year will qualify for relief from some of their college debt. The Biden Administration said that students who make less than $125,000 a year, or families making less than $250,000, qualify for the$10,000 loan forgiveness program. How do you participate? If you qualify, explained WMUR sister station WCVB, contact your loan service provider and make sure they know how to find you! (WMUR)
  3. Do you own a Hyundai or Kia? The car companies are telling some owners "to park outside" as your car may catch on fire. Hyundai and Kia recalled several SUV models and advised owners to park "outdoors and away from buildings" after several have caught on fire from faulty trailer hitch wiring. The Korean automakers are recalling more than 281,000 vehicles in the U.S. and Canada with the fire hazard but acknowledged "they haven't figured out how to fix it yet." There have been 25 reports of "fires or melting incidents" in the U.S. and Canada. No crashes or injuries have been reported. (WMUR)
  4. In other recall news, Ford issued a recall for more than 2.9 million vehicles at risk of "roll away crashes." The transmission problem covers certain 2013 to 2019 models of the Ford Escape, 2013 to 2018 C-Max, 2013 to 2016 Fusion, 2013 to 2021 Transit Connect, and 2015 to 2018 Edge. Drivers of the impacted vehicles shift the vehicle into park, but due to a transmission cable problem, it may shift to another gear, causing the vehicle to "roll away." The Ford dealership in Manchester said last week that they now have the parts to repair the recall issue. (US News)
