19 Graduate Merrimack Citizens Police Academy
Citizen cadets learn police practices and participated in a mock trial.
Press Release from the Merrimack Police Department:
The Merrimack Police Department Graduated 19 Students from our 19th Citizen's Police Academy on Wednesday night April 2, 2014.
We are happy to welcome our most recent class into our Police Department family and hope to keep in touch with all. Participating students were provided an overview of the departments operations and programs that it has to offer. They were given an overview of the investigation process from the patrol officer on the street to the more serious crimes requiring specialized investigations by the criminal bureau. They were shown how to handle and fire weapons, participated in defensive tactics training (without getting injured!) and probably had the most fun when some of them acted as the jury for our mock trial.
These citizens dedicated their precious time and spent the last ten weeks getting
to know their police department. Fun was had by all and we are sorry to see them go, but our doors are open to see them again. Watch our press releases and website for next years academy when we hope to expand our work family even more!
