5 Things You Need to Know Today: Oct. 24
We will continue to accept election-related letters to the editor until Nov. 2.

Here are five things you should know before you start your Wednesday.
1. Letter deadline. With the general election just shy of two weeks away, Merrimack Patch continues to receive letters to the editor regarding the candidates who are running on the Democratic and Republican tickets. Patch will continue to accept letters until Nov. 2. Election-related letters will not run after Nov. 4.
2. Save some money. On Tuesday, WMUR posted an article with links to more than a dozen blogs to help you keep extra cash in your pocket while shopping for things you want and need. Who doesn't like saving a little extra money? Check them out.

3. Weather watch. Today's forecast calls for a slight chance of showers, otherwise partly sunny, with a high near 61. Tonight, mostly cloudy, with a low around 43.
4. Pink P.M. Networking. Mark your calendar for Thursday evening and join local businesses and the Merrimack Chamber of Commerce at Energia Salon, 704 Milford Road, for a P.M. Networking event and breast cancer awareness fundraiser. There will be raffles, food, drink and pink hair extensions and more. Ten percent of all product and extension profit sales that evening will go to the Save the Ta-tas Foundation for breast cancer research. Event is free and open to all.

5. OBOT. The Pontine Theatre will present a production of excerpts from The House of the Seven Gables, the library's 2012 One Book, One Town selection, tonight from 7-9 p.m. Founded in 1977, Pontine Theatre has developed a reputation for high quality performances and educational programs. With an impressive repertoire of innovative, original productions, the company serves both its home town, Portsmouth, NH and neighboring New England states. Their work combines lyrical movement, puppetry, and storytelling. This performance is for adults and teens. Space is limited so registration is recommended.
